Flowers for the Judge (Heinemann, 1936)

Murder in the Publishing House. The London firm of Barnabas
is given to publishing serious, literary works. The firm holds
an unpublished play by William Congreve as their primary collateral
against debts. Barnabas is, in short, a fine old firm. They are
therefore scandalised when one of their executives, Paul Barnabas,
is found dead in the cellar, and a young associate and family
member, Michael Wedgewood, who happened to be in a rather pleasant
minor affair with his senior's wife Gina is seen as the man who
must be responsible. However, as always, the truth is more obscure
than the facts initially appear to admit...
