- Cargo of Eagles, Chapter One

from the Avon (US) edition: "Once the gathering place of pirates and smugglers, the town of Saltey has no been overrun by motorcycle gangs, ex-convicts, and a nasty collection of contemporary cutthroats. But a missing treasure and a resurrected local demon entice Albert Campion to the quaint, if troubled, seacoast community - and a mysterious murder that sets the intrepid sleuth sailing toward disaster."

This book was only half-completed when Margery Allingham died on 30 June 1966. After a time, Philip Youngman Carter was persuaded to finish the work that they had begun together. He went on to write the final two Campion stories, based upon their joint sketches, Mr Campion's Farthing and Mr Campion's Falcon.
